Justified Anger Town Hall Speech

On Saturday, February 15, 2014 in Madison, WI nearly 550 people gathered to discuss racial disparities in their community. The meeting was a followup to the personal essay by Alex Gee entitled “Justified Anger,” which ran in the Capital Times newspaper on December 18, 2013. The meeting took place at Fountain of Life Covenant Church, where Alex is pastor. This is part one of two in which Alex gives a speech about how he came to write the essay, what has happened since the essay was published, and what he sees as some next steps toward ending racial disparity in Madison.

For part two, which includes the open mic question and comments time, click here.

Watch Alex deliver an excerpt from his poem, “Are We There Yet?”

  1. Thank you taping and archiving this talk. I could only understand 30% of the talk when there Sat…
partly due to acoustics, partly due to super speed phrases.
    This feels big…
    and I want to help.
